Loop Installation
We have completely re-laid the running line from the platform at Dromod station out 800 metres towards Clooncolry.
The track renewal replaced expired sleepers with replacements and completely replaced dog spikes with screws and clips on the running line. We have also replaced some 45lb rail with heavier 60lb rail along the line.
This has required much investment in screws, bolts and sleepers. All of which has come from our volunteers and supporters. ​As an example a lorry load of ballast will cost anywhere above €100, we need your help please donate what you can.
Within the Winter 2025 we plan to install heavy points at Clooncolry along with a loop to allow our steam locomotive to run around a train of coaches. To be completed in time for the 2026 season.
